Everest Base Camp Trek is perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to stand in the shadow of the highest mountain in the world. This trek is an amazing opportunity to follow the most famous trail in the Himalayas. It will also be an opportunity to recall the history of the Himalayan mountaineering world.
Perched at an elevation of 5364 m above sea level in Solukhumbu District, Everest Base Camp offers extraordinary views of several Himalayan Giants. Such as Everest, Nuptse, Khumbu Icefall, Lhotse, Lobuche Peak, Pumori, and countless other surrounding mountains.
The 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek takes us through the SoluKHumbu region which is inhabited by amazing Sherpa people who once came to Nepal from Tibet. Today, many of them are involved in tourism, running hotels and pubs, and taking part in Himalayan expeditions as guides and high-mountain porters.
They practice the Buddhist religion much influenced by Tibetan culture and tradition. Along the marvelous journey of Everest Base Camp Trek, we will be able to see their everyday life, religious rituals, and festivals along with the exploration of their ancient colorful monasteries.
The trail to the Everest Base Camp also allows us to walk through several dense forests of pine, rhododendrons, magnolias, and berries. With a bit of luck, we can also meet animals typical of Sagramtha National Park. Such as Grey Langur, Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Thar, etc.
All along the route, the impressive Himalayan panoramas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Ngozumpa glacier, Pumori, and many more will stretch before our eyes.
In addition, through the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will be able to admire the achievements of Himalayan climbers who conquer the mighty snowy peaks. You will gain an amazing perspective and new meaning of life that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Our Everest Base Camp Trek involves an average of 6-8 hours of walking each day. The expedition is fully supported by porters, and pack animals, and all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided. Every mountain enthusiast in decent shape can try to reach the base at the highest peak in the world.
Our Everest Base Camp trek begins with a tour of Kathmandu. Then we have a spectacular flight to Lukla, where we meet our experienced team of guides and porters. We will then begin the trek walking on the trail that will gradually take us from the sparkling waters of the Dudh Khosi River, through the heart of Sherpa country, to the dramatic high-mountain world of rocks and glaciers.
We will visit the friendly and picturesque villages of Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Pheriche. We also have one acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar. Well acclimatized, we will follow in the footsteps of great mountaineers to Everest Base Camp, where we can meet expeditions heading to Everest.
We will also climb the nearby, easy mountain Kala Patthar to admire wonderful views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makalu. We will then descend to Pheriche and trek back to Lukla following a similar initial path. We will then fly back to Kathmandu with the same thrill in our veins as we experienced at the beginning of this journey.
You can cutomize this trip as per your requirements if met the proper guidelines.
The trek to Everest Base Camp is possible all year round but the most favorable and preferred time for this trek is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Spring and autumn offer clear skies, more pleasant temperatures, and little chance of precipitation.
But these seasons represent busier routes, greater occupancy of the accommodation, and small inconveniences such as having to wait to cross the suspension bridges or give way in some section of the road.
The monsoon season stands out from June to August characterized by high temperatures and heavy and persistent rain. The winter months (December to February), although they usually offer clear days, are characterized by very cold temperatures and the possibility of abundant snowfall.
With a height of 5364 m, the Everest Base Camp lies around 200 to 300 km away from Kathmandu. The journey often begins with a flight to Lukla from where the actual hiking days start. The distance from Lukla to Everest Base Camp is approximately 65 km. You need two weeks to complete this trek from Kathmandu and 11 to 12 days from Lukla.
On our 14-day Everest Base Camp trip, you will be hiking for 10 days exactly through picturesque mountain villages of the Khumbu region. Each day, you will cover 15 km on average by hiking 6 to 8 hours a day. Someday can be easier when you cover only 5 km while someday may demand you to cover 20 km or even 30 km. The altitude, your walking pace, and the terrain are the major cause of these variations.
Our trip needs you to hike for approximately 6 to 8 hours a day. However, as mentioned above, you will only walk for 3 to hours while someday you may have to hike for 7 to 9 hours.
The shortest walking day will be on day 3 when you commence your trek from Lukla to Phading. Perhaps it is going to be the easiest trek of your entire trekking duration to Everest Base Camp.
The longest hiking day will be on day 10 when you trek from Gorakshep and climb Kala Patthar then descend to Phercihe. On this day, you may have to walk for 8 to 9 hours. It is the toughest and most challenging part of our entire trek.
Trekking to the Everest Base Camp is considered a moderately challenging journey that requires no special skills. But good physical condition, good health, and no contraindications to staying at high altitudes are a must. We have planned acclimatization days at Kathmandu and Namche Bazaar.
Despite a good acclimatization plan, we will still be climbing significant heights, so those suffering from heart disease and circulatory system diseases should exclude participation in this trip. For everyone planning a trip, it is advisable to consult a doctor if you wish to stay at an altitude above 5,000 m above sea level.
Yes. If you have not trekked before in remote regions of Nepal, or even if you have no experience in high-altitude hiking, you can still participate in the Everest Base Camp trek. However, please keep in mind that this trek can be physically demanding especially when climbing the Kala Patthar. So you must be in decent shape.
You will often walk for 6 to 8 hours in mountainous terrain. You also need to be prepared for high altitudes. Trekking to Everest base camp will often lead along routes located 3,000 – 5,000 m above sea level, and to reach the base camp you have to climb up to 5,364 m above sea level.
In addition, accommodation conditions, especially during trekking, can be very basic. Therefore be prepared physically and mentally for all these minor challenges and in return we guarantee you unforgettable experiences.
The Everest Base Camp trek often involves covering a significant number of kilometers on steep slopes. If you don’t do sports every day, you should change that. It’s best to start with jogging, long walks or cycling. The more time you spend training, the easier it will be for you to reach your goal.
Once you have taken care of the above issues, then you need to equip yourself with appropriate clothing and equipment. Purchase durable and comfortable trekking shoes, thermal underwear, trousers, T-shirts, Sweaters, raincoats, backpack with lots of pockets, trekking poles, sunscreens, gloves, and sunglasses.
If you are keen on familiarizing yourself with the true Nepal, you can often opt for an alternate route to the Everest Base Camp. This classic route takes you in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay. It will also allow you to avoid flights to Lukla. On this alternative route, you will trek from Jiri, Bhandar, Sete, Junbesi, Nunthala, Bupsa and Chheplung finally joining Namche.
You can also integrate the Everest Base Camp trek with Island Peak climbing or Lobche Peak climbing. Or, you can also combine the Gokyo Lake trek with this trek for an authentic Nepal experience.
Trekking to Everest Base Camp is not challenging but it not without risk. Although the path lacks any complicated or exposed steps, along the route we may encounter altitude sickness. Due to the decrease in oxygen at high altitudes, problems may arise such as headache, fatigue, nausea or loss of appetite, irregular sleep, difficulty breathing, and confusion.
To prevent altitude sickness, it is necessary to acclimatize, which means proper utilization of rest day, ascending slowly, and drinking plenty (always avoiding alcohol). If the headache does not subside with regular analgesics (Paracetamol, Ibuprofen), you notice a feeling of shortness of breath at rest, confusion, or instability when walking, you should get off immediately and possibly seek medical help.

In this trek, which takes 14 days in the magnificent geography of the Himalayan Mountains, we will see Mount Everest, the roof of the world, from afar. We will visit the base camp where climbers live for 2.5-3 months, to climb several other 8,000-meter mountains and other famous mountains located next to Everest along the Khumbu Gorge.
We will travel on foot and sleep in villages that are linked to each other only through whole days of walking. During this trekking, you will get to know the Sherpa-Tibetan culture from within, and you will share with people from all over the world in a wonderful environment. Above all, you will trek for hours and days surrounded by the highest peaks on the planet, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, among others!

In short, this trekking is a great adventure, a unique opportunity to rediscover the simplest of things: silence, time, smiles, and the pace of man.
Yes, there are two base camps where visitors who want to climb to the top of Everest can stay. One is the North Base Camp on the Tibetan side of Everest, while the other is the Everest Base Camp, reached from Kathmandu, Nepal. And it is the most visited place. The reasons why it is visited more are primarily the existence of more modern tourism facilities and the availability of helicopter access.
You should definitely take out travel insurance to help you overcome and compensate for any problems on the hike. It will help minimize the risks that may occur.
The standard package for the Everest Base Camp Trek costs between $1200 and $1500 per person (depending on group size), including 12 days of guides, porters, food, accommodation, and transportation from Kathmandu to Lukla. You need to calculate additional costs for international flights, visas, and insurance; Equipment rentals such as sleeping bags, tips, and shopping expenses.
There are plenty of ATMs in Kathmandu so getting cash before your trip is no problem. However, when you start your trip, the only ATM is in Namche Bazaar and it seems to have frequent problems, so don’t rely on it.
Yes, if you’re short on time, consider doing the classic Everest Base Camp trek with a helicopter return trip from Everest base camp to Lukla, which will save you a few days of walking. Plus you get great views of Everest on the shorter Everest trek.
