Booking is open for 2024 and 2025 for all tours and trekking in Nepal.
Trekking itineraries and destinations place a time restriction on the journey’s completion and difficulty grades on it. As it divides the easier treks from the more difficult ones, it also accounts for altitude and potentially hazardous sections of the trail. Every part of the globe has five distinct levels of difficulty during the entire adventure. A list of these grades and some of their shared traits is provided below.
Every hike in Nepal is assigned a grade. This is an introduction to the trek’s terrain, taking into account potential levels of difficulty and physical condition.
People of all ages and fitness levels may enjoy an easy-graded trip. It’s perfect for couples who are taking little children on vacation. There won’t be any steep steps or lengthy ascents on the paths; they will be simple. An easy trek usually requires less gear and is done in calmer weather and at lower heights. In the event of an emergency, these hikes are often easily accessible from major cities and highways.
A typical walking day on an easy journey lasts no longer than five hours. Easy hikes, like the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, are often quick, lasting three to six days. Easy treks often take no longer than a week, are suitable for all skill levels, and don’t need strenuous climbs or ascents to high heights.
While our lower altitude hikes provide colorful horizons of numerous mountain ranges, our higher-level treks sometimes only give views of a handful. Plain paths are used for the walks in Ghorepani and Jomsom. At the tea houses along these routes, you may enjoy Western-style meals and hot showers.
Naturally, there’s a reason certain hikes are well-known, and you’ll enjoy the landscape and topography. The Helambu trek might be your best option if you appreciate the notion of teahouse hiking but would want to avoid the masses.
Some steeper climbs with extended daytime hikes are part of a moderate trek. There could be some tight jungle passages and steep rocky climbs on the paths. Like the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, these hikes can be appropriate for families with teen kids and only demand a basic degree of fitness.
Since Grade 2 treks are tougher than Grade 1 treks, they are appropriate for any traveler seeking something a little more demanding. They last between 10 to 20 days, include more trekking up and down hills, and take you to higher altitudes where you’ll be rewarded with up-close views of massive mountains.
The well-made and maintained trail, with lovely teahouse amenities, leads to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, which provides beautiful residences and places you close to glaciers. Alternatively, you can also try the Langtang Valley trek.
You could go to Kyanjing Ri, a trekking peak with a 360-degree panorama, as part of your Langtang journey. Ganesh Himal is a great option for a quick excursion into the wilderness. The cultural customs of the area are remarkably intact despite the fact that there are only 100 annual tourists. You pass the tall Singla Pass (4600 m) on this walk.
The Rara Trek is a fantastic summertime substitute because it’s almost as far away and has less rain. In these latter two areas, visitors are pretty rare, which results in no accommodation; thus, you will need to camp.
A medium degree of fitness is necessary for a difficult hike. You may have to walk for up to six hours each day while on these hikes. The paths could occasionally be steep and narrow, and they won’t always be clear. In regions with high elevation, be prepared for sporadic lower temperatures and the risk of snowfall.
Treks that fall in this category usually take place in places with good infrastructure, but occasionally, especially if the walk involves camping, you should be ready for basic amenities and services. Additionally, you’ll be farther away from cities and main thoroughfares like Manaslu Circuit Trek.
Only those with some prior experience trekking mountains should go on Grade 3 trips. Even though climbers may reach heights of 5,000 meters, ropes are still needed. Planning expeditions lasting seven to twenty-one days may be necessary for this level of hiking.
For a well-known and scenic tour, the Annapurna Circuit is a great alternative, especially with the opportunity to stay in modern tea houses. You will reach 5416 meters as you progressively ascend along a verdant river lane with an excessive number of high passes. This stroll will provide you with a comprehensive grasp of Tibetan culture. Another popular route with good teahouse facilities is the Everest Base Camp route.
Grade 4 treks are suitable only for serious adventurers since rope work and lengthy climbs up hillsides to very high elevations may be involved. You will need to have substantial stamina and strong mental preparation because it may take more than 30 days to reach the heart of the terrain that they traverse. All of them involve overnight camping since no lodges exist in those remote regions.
High levels of endurance and some prior mountain climbing experience are prerequisites for a Grade 4 hike. The trails can be small, rocky, and steep in certain areas, so be prepared for that. There could be some climbing via lush jungles or across rocky slopes. There will be long stretches of trekking up and down hills. Hiking on a grade 4 trek usually takes you to higher elevations.
You should thus be prepared to go for walks in the snow and in inclement weather. You may have to walk a considerable distance on certain days owing to the distance between the communities and the lack of decent camping locations. You are going to be further away from major highways and cities during treks, such as Everest Base Camp Trekking, and have access to minimal amenities and services.
The toughest trek type necessitates a high degree of fitness and ample prior trekking expertise. Hiking at higher heights will be absolutely necessary. But over 5000 m, there will be lengthy stretches of climbing. The paths will have some rough and steep climbing portions that last hours on end. In some areas, you should also anticipate trekking in the snow, so be ready for any severe weather.
Typically, these journeys take place in isolated locations with few services. You must have knowledgeable trek leaders ready in these situations. Additionally, there are certain locations—like the Everest Three Passes Trek—where crossing passes necessitates walking for longer than eight hours each day.
During your treks, our porters will help you carry your luggage to the ultimate destination and all the way back to Kathmandu. This is one of the things that feels like a trivial matter, but imagine if you had to carry 15 to 20 kg all the way to the base camp of a peak. As if reaching the base camp was not difficult enough.
However, you will have to carry a light bag on your back throughout the trek, which has all the necessary goods, such as water bottles, snacks, energy bars, etc.
